Walked two separate days last week. First day out I walked for 4 hours and came up with nothing. I walked the ravines of Ledges State Park and was beat by the end.
Day two I walked the Sugar Valley public again and as per usual I found one on the absolute last leg of a 5 hour walk.
On my first walk of the season I am pretty sure this was already laying there and I walked right past it. The tree rats beat me to this one. I am started to get stir crazy and am ready for spring to be here...

First Shed Walk of Feb
Walked with the pup today at a public property we used to hunt frequently during the bow season. The parking lot was plowed in so I ended up parking on the road and walking in on the prairie.
Instant Mistake.
It was a grueling first leg with more snow than I have slogged through ever before. Knee deep the entire way. It was not as bad in the timber, but it was good to see Mocha getting her money's worth. I walked everything and it wasn't until I was on my last leg that I found bone. Along the timber edge in the top of the hill I found a broken tine with a chunk of antler.
In the same field not 60 yards away was another fresh bone for the year!
It was just a dink spike but hey, bone is bone. I turned the corner on the lane and continued on my way out when I hit paydirt. It was pounded with standing corn. I gridded it and the surrounding area without finding a thing. I have always said, 'when I want to find one, I will never find one'.
Mocha and I dragged our feet and headed out. She ended up falling asleep sitting upright on the way home.
